Tourism Vancouver Dine Out Vancouver Kick off event

At that time of year when going out for dinner may be put off by winter weather, Tourism Vancouver cleverly created a promotion to capture the hearts and the stomachs of local foodies – Dine Out Vancouver.

Restaurants from a variety of price points create $18 / $28 / $38 3 course menus that usually cost much more.

To kick off the event and generate media awareness, Tourism Vancouver puts together a fun and tasty media event that includes 50+ chefs from participating restaurants for a breakfast, complete with local media and the student chefs from Pacific Culinary Institute of Arts.  Enter the Chefs Soup Experiment.  Each of these chefs brings one ingredient to form the contents of a giant experimental soup concoction made by the students at PCIA.

Enter the photography supplier to gather 50 executive chefs into one early morning group shot – Coast Mountain Photography.  Working with Lucan Pavan (Membership) and Amber Sessions (Media Relations), this special breakfast, the start of the soup experiment, and the group portrait form the kick off event for Dine Out Vancouver.  Student chefs then spent the next 3 hours chopping and prepping a wild medley of ingredients not often all found mingling together in a giant soup kettle.

So what became of this soup experiment?  If you happen to find yourself down at Granville Island at lunchtime, you may have been lucky enough to try it.  The soup was provided at no charge to anyone willing to line up at lunchtime last Friday.  The line stretched well across the bridge that takes one onto Granville Island, and there’s no doubt it was worth the wait.

Let Coast Mountain Photography capture the highlights of your next media and community event outreach on location.  With edits while you wait, images will be ready for media distribution within the hour in a variety of file sizes to suit any use.
